Most of time, it depends your system. As long as you get good S/N ratio and no fluorescence, the set-up will work. To minimize the fluorescence, use higher wavelength laser; however, lower UV region laser will give you most intensive raman effect. To verify if the laser will induce fluorescence, you can run a fluorescence experiment to find out.
