Description/Abstract Supported Ni/TiO{sub 2} catalysts are prepared by treating Ti-Ni-H{sub x} hydrides with concentrated hydrochloric acid. The catalysts were then tested in hydrodechlorination of 1,1,2-trichloro-1,2,2-trifluoroethane (freon R-113) into chlorofluoroethylene. The samples were obtained with various specific surface areas and nickel contents depending on the treatment conditions. The catalyst with 8.3% Ni and S{sub sp} = 289 m{sup 2}/g exhibits the maximal activity and stability. The effect of the strong metal-support interaction (SMSI) on the activity of the catalysts studied in hydrodechlorination is discussed.
