It depends on the magnet is ultrashielded or not. But for safty reason, it is recommend to remove all metal stuffs. If you just check a simple H spectrum, it is pretty well established. Spectrometer is very robust, you will have little chance to destroy it, only in case you set the pulse time too long or power level too high.
