1.Job Title: R&D Engineer - Optical Design EngineerPosition Location: Shanghai, ChinaDivision/Business Unit Summary: CAD/MolecularChina Technology Center is a new growth engine for Thermo Fisher in China as well as global. We are responsible for the new product development, existing product upgrading, product localization, and innovational application and technology development. We are a booming team to host great talents growing here with success. Position Summary:The primary role of this position is responsible for design and developing the optical system for spectrometer. This individual will work with cross functional engineers to complete the optical parts, corresponding fixture design and performance validation. Besides, the individual also participates in product transfer projects, sustaining the existing products based on customer feedback, cost, and manufacturability.Key Responsibilities:- Lead design and development of optical systems through optical modeling, test, characterization, and design of experiments while working in close collaboration with electrical, mechanical, systems engineers and others. Optical systems will include lens, filters, splitter, digital sensors, optical fibers and diverse light sources. Materials characterization, coating and related knowledge is required;- Propose innovative and creative optical technical solutions to make technical offer more competitive;- Develop specification and qualification plan for optical components and modules, interfacing with supplies to coordinate the optical parts prototyping, tooling, qualification and verification;- Develop the fixtures and standard operating procedures for instrument alignment and calibration;- Product prototype assemble and system testing, especially optical part;- New product introduce and technical support to manufacture, as well as the cost reduction projects;- Other duties as assigned;Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: - A Bachelor’s degree or above in Optics, Electro-optics, Physics or Electrical Engineering with strong optics and fiber optic background, required with a minimum of 5 years working experience;- 3+ years experience in optical modeling, design and product development, experience in optical spectrum instrument is preferred;- Demonstrated ability to solve complex issues in optical design and product development;- Familiar with active components, passive components, subsystem modules and their test methods, such as grating, mirror, optical fiber, UV Vis light source, optical detection sensor and so on.- Expertise in use of optical design tools like Zemax, OSLO and softwares like solidworks, AutoCAD;- Self-starter and capable of working with minimal supervision. Position Summary: The primary role of this position is responsible for the development and management of integrated requirements for molecular spectrum products. This individual will participate in the creation of product requirements, high level systems architecture, mechanical and electrical requirements, hardware and software requirements, as well as the verification test procedures, validation test procedures and other project documentation to ensure that mechanical, electrical and software subsystems function reliably as an integrated system. In addition, the individual also participate in product transfer projects, sustaining the existing products based on customer feedback, cost, and manufacturability.Key Responsibilities:- Be responsible for the development of engineering specification and system architecture according to marketing requirement, interfaces with other design engineers responsible for user interface, industrial design, software, mechanical systems and compliance;- Participates in and/or conducts technical reviews as defined in a structured, multi-stage product development process;- Works with other functional team members (i.e. software, electrical, mechanical, reliability, manufacturing, service, quality, etc.) to resolve system / interface issues by evaluating overall systems performance / function;- Generating test plans and procuring necessary equipment for mechanical and electrical testing of instruments undergoing development;- New product introduce and full technical support to manufacture, as well as the cost reduction projects;- Reports test outcomes by collecting, analyzing, interpreting, summarizing, and displaying data;- To work with cross functional team to complete design change (ECR);- Other duties as assigned;Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: - A Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechatronics, Electronic Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years working experience;- At least 3 years’ experience in both new product development and new product introduce;- Broad technical expertise across disciplines including electrical, mechanical and software engineering;- Working knowledge of risk management techniques. (i.e. Risk Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), etc.). Be able to recognize problem areas and address them accordingly;- Six Sigma or DFSS experience preferred;- Self-starter and capable of working with minimal supervision.
