Postgraduate Scholarship in structure-property relationships in diluted magnetic semiconductors
A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for an enthusiastic candidate to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in diluted magnetic semiconductors. Just like silicon in the microelectronics, diluted magnetic semiconductors are believed to the material base for the next generation electronics spintronics, which exploits the intrinsic spin of electrons, in addition to its fundamental electronic charge, in solid-state devices. The project addresses a major obstacle on way to spintronics by investigating the microscopic origin of the interesting properties in diluted magnetic semiconductors using advanced microscopy and microanalysis. The applicant should have a Master or Bachelor degree in science or engineering. Experience in microscopy and microanalysis would be an advantage. Applications should be sent direct to Dr Rongkun Zheng at rzheng@usyd.edu.au and should include curriculum vitae, a copy of an academic transcript, and the names and contact details of at least two referees. Further information can be obtained from Dr Rongkun Zheng, Australia Key Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis, Madison Building, The University of Sydney NSW 2006 (E-mail: rzheng@usyd.edu.au).
