Near infrared reflectance analysis (NIRA) may be the key to the development of speedy and exact digestible energy and amino acid values to be used in feed formulation. There is increasing evidence that NIRA can offer a relatively precise estimation of digestible energy and amino acid values provided that adequate calibration information is given. Biological approaches for calculating digestible energy and amino acid values for an ingredient are costly and tedious
