In the work described here, pulsed splitless injection methods (with
MS detection in scan and SIM modes) were compared against a split injection method (with MS detection in scan mode). The lowest concentration measured using split injection corresponded to 20 ppb reaching the column (i.e., 1/25 of the 0.5 ppm concentration
of a prepared standard or extract). This was close to the limit of detection (LOD) for a method based on split injection/scan mode.
