在制药行业，我们经常会碰到verification与certification这两个概念，在Wikipedia中，对二者做了如下的解释，欢迎大家讨论。

Verification: in engineering or a quality management system, “verification” is the act of reviewing, inspecting, testing, etc. to establish and document that a product, service, or system meets the regulatory, standard, or spcification requirements.

认证：在工程或质量管理体系中，“认证”指审核、检查、测试等行为，确立和记录某一产品、服务或体系符合法规、标准或规范的要求。

Certification: refers to the confirmation of certain characteristics of an object, person, or organization. This confirmation is often, but not always, provided by some form of external review, education, or assessment.

认证：指对对象、人、或组织的确定。这类确定通常但不总是由外部某种形式的审核、教育、或评估实现。

Certification 和licence更相近吧，两者交替使用很多

There are exceptions, for example, the accountant bearing the legal status in United Kingdom is Certified Accountant.

同一个字, 在不同的行业会有不同的习惯用法。在同一行业, 用词必需准确, 以免引起误解。但跨行业或没特指某一行业时, 不宜太拘泥。 For example:

In pharmacy, “validation” is different from “verification”. However, in the “International vocabulary of metrology (VIM)_JCGM 200-2008”(an important document in metrology issued by BIPM), “validation” is nearly equivalent to “verification”.

同意这个。有时certification的作用只是confirm（确认）。比如在Delegation of Power或Declaration里经常以这样的语句开头：“I hereby certify that...”，这里的certify就不是官方认定，只是企业作出的confirmation。例：以下链接中的exporter's certification statement。
