PBB和PBDE各有209种同分异构体，但是各种同分异构体（比如都是一溴联苯）的保留时间（和极性，分子量有关），特征离子和特征离子的相互比例（都会被离子源分解为苯环和单个溴离子）等参数在GC-MS是基本相同的（当然不是完全相同）。

所以只要得到一种同分异构体的相关参数，其他同分异构体的参数基本也是一样的。因次，可以选择一种最便宜的同分异构体来检测所有同分异构体。
