多年前看小说, 遇到 “香波”一词, 不明。  後来在深圳理发时, 才知是shampoo即是洗发液。  有一次一家人在深圳理发店外猜那广告中“卡娜”一词指什么, 女儿先猜到, 是colour即是染发。

以前男士梳头用头腊, 後来用发乳, 不知什么时侯开始用像鼻涕的东西, 叫Gel。 我没有惯用的牌子, 那种便宜、大减价就用那种, 包装上往往是外文, 亦没留意有没有中文译名。  去年十一月去上海前Gel刚巧用光了, 就到Watsons买了一支新的(Watsons既卖药, 亦卖化妆品、浴室用品)。  其生产商是Mandom Corp., 规格是Long-Keep。  TNND, 发票上竟译成 “猛男持久啫喱膏”, 害得我差点婚姻破裂。 (见 http://www.instrument.com.cn/bbs/shtml/20081231/1675278/ )

Long-Keep应译成长久定型

A gel (from the lat. gelu—freezing, cold, ice or gelatus—frozen, immobile, 凝胶, 潤滑劑) is a solid, jelly-like material (将Gel译成啫喱膏合适吗?) that can have properties ranging from soft and weak to hard and tough. Gels are defined as a substantially dilute crosslinked system, which exhibits no flow when in the steady-state.  By weight, gels are mostly liquid, yet they behave like solids due to a three-dimensional crosslinked network within the liquid. It is the crosslinks within the fluid that give a gel its structure (hardness) and contribute to stickiness (tack).
