Time Delayed Fragmentation(TDF) working process:
1. Precursor ion selected in Q1
2. Ions are trapped in Q2(no fragmentation)
3. Ions are accelerated into the trap and fragment through collisionally activated dissociation
4. During the "cool"time, fragments below a user-specified mass are not trapped
5. After the "cool"time, all ions are collectd and scanned out of the trap
6. As ions are being scanned out of the trap, incoming ions are stored in the Q0 region(Q0 trapping)
I wish it would help you a lot.:)
The TDF Mode is similar to Enhance Product Ion Scan, which perform MS/MS scan and Q3 becomes a filter.Fragment the ions in trap by setting Entry barrie between Q2&Q3 (TDF CE...Analyst advanced MS setting),no frag in Q2,Q2 is only used for trap,Q3 is used for frag/trap/scan.
When you set the Q3 Fill Mass in Analyst, during the "cool"time, fragments below the setting value are not trapped. After the "cool"time, all ions are collectd and scanned out of the trap
The grand-daughter ions is produced by MS3 mode.
